Call To Clean Up Peasedown E-mail

Cllr Gail Coleshill, is calling on Bath & North East Somerset Council to hold an Environmental Action Day in Peasedown St John.

Gail said; "Residents of Peasedown are always telling us about rubbish blackspots. Action needs to be taken not just to clean up the local area but to ensure that those responsible are identified and dealt with."

"An Environmental Action Day would see council officers coming out to the village for a whole day to work alongside the police, fire service, Somer Housing and the DVLA in removing rubbish from the streets, cleaning up graffiti and removing abandoned vehicles."

"At the recent Community Safety Action Group meeting I was showing slides of a local action day for residents in Frederick and Albert Avenue last year. There was a grand clear up and lots of community spirit. I would like this to extend over the whole village to achieve a clean and safe Peasedown St John that residents can be proud of."

In 2005 four Environmental Action Days were held in Whiteway, Foxhill, Keynsham and central Bath, in 2006 Midsomer Norton will be added to the list.

Gail added; "We need to get tough on litter and tough on the blights of our neighbourhood. Over the coming year I will campaign for Peasedown St John to get the action it deserves."
