A group of residents in Peasedown St John have asked one of their local B&NES Councillors, Nathan Hartley, to call a public meeting to discuss a controversial housing development. Several weeks before Christmas, work began to build 95 homes in Wellow Lane, a scheme which received planning permission in 2008. Cllr Nathan Hartley (Lib Dem, Peasedown) said: “After receiving high levels of complaints from residents on a regular basis concerning the housing development at Wellow Lane, we’ll be holding a public meeting to discuss these.
Whilst many residents have accepted that these dwellings are now being built, they have concerns that some of the pre-commencement planning conditions have not been met.
The request to organise the meeting came from residents in Wellow Tyning, many of which have rung me on daily basis since building work started.”
Issues to be covered will include: - Parking - Dog fouling - Building site appearance - Condition of roads near to site - Litter and rubbish Cllr Sarah Bevan (Lib Dem, Peasedown) added: “It’s vital that housing developers do all they can not to interfere with the everyday lives of those living near a building site.
Unfortunately, two weeks ago work vans parked outside our local GP surgery which prevented an ambulance responding to a 999 call as quickly as it could have done.” The meeting will take place in the Red Post Inn, Peasedown St John on Monday 9th January at 4pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, particularly residents living near the development. Invited to the meeting are: Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Parking Services, Planning Enforcement, Planning, the Dog Warden, Peasedown St John Parish Council, Avon and Somerset Police, and the David Wilson Homes site manager.
