Recognising road peace day - 12th Dec '11 E-mail

Road Peace Memorial Day, which takes place every 3rd Sunday in November, honours the victims of road traffic accidents which number 4,000 worldwide every year.

Cllr Sarah Bevan's brother Tom was killed in a road accident at the age of 26 on the A4 near Reading.

Sarah said: '20 years ago Tom's life ended in an instant as a result of a drunk driver's selfishness. Back then, my family were numb with shock and disbelief, but as the poem I read at the memorial service organised for our region this year shows, we can now smile and remember the good times we had with him'.
