Councillors Take To The Highway E-mail
Liberal Democrat Councillors Sarah Bevan and Gail Coleshill are concerned that there are a number of issues about the main road through Peasedown St John that seem to have no easy solutions. They are therefore taking to the Highway this new year and to try and find solutions. They will then present their findings to the executive member for transport.

Cllr Bevan said:

"We have had so many comments about parking problems, traffic calming and such like, and although we have managed to get some positive actions from Council officers it is not enough. I am worried that the inappropriate parking mixed with large vehicles trying to get through small spaces is causing great potential hazards to residents."

The parking round the shops is one issue but there is also poor visibility turning into the road from side roads, difficulties with the chicanes, poor signage and problems for disabled people and pedestrians on the footpaths. Gail Coleshill has been approached by a disabled person who has even found the dropped kerbs difficult.

She said:

"The trouble is that there are so many things, so we thought we would make a list to present to Cllr Jenkins and ask him to help us get them sorted out. We would be very interested to hear from any residents with complaints or indeed suggestions for improvements."
