Local resident, Chaz Fisher, took up the opportunity to meet Former Lib Dem Leader, Charles Kennedy, during the recent General Election campaign in May.

Chaz said:

"When I went to Bristol I did not expect at all to meet Charles Kennedy. When I saw him there were lots of camara men and photographers around him and I didnt think there was any chance of getting any where near him.

"But I was wrong. After waiting around a bit I decided to squeeze through the crowds and the next thing I know I am walking right next to him. He then turned to me, asked me my name and how old I was. I told him my name was Chaz. He then smiled and said 'sometimes people call me Chaz as well'."

Chaz, who is in Year 8 at Beechen Cliff School and lives in Frederick Avenue, was later seen on the BBC and ITV local news programmes and also on the BBC Ten O'Clock News.
