Dear Editor, It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a year since our first ever Party in the Park in Peasedown St John. When a group of us got together in September 2008 we had no idea that our idea for a new community festival would take off so quickly. Its success is down to the fact that there is a growing feeling of community spirit in Peasedown, people are crying out for events like this to help them feel passionate about the area they live in. Last year’s event was a big success. Around 1,500 people came along and out of the funds raised we gave £500 back to the community as grants to Peasedown Community Farm, Carlingtots and Peasedown St John Scouts. We’re hoping our second festival this Saturday will be even more successful and have been overwhelmed again this year with support from local businesses. Much of the work has been done by a small dedicated team of people: Karen Walker, Jason Cronin, Bridie Marshall, Jo Curd, Joy Fraser, Beryl Fedder and myself. The one underlying theme that ties us altogether is our desire to bring people together in Peasedown St John. Without these people Party in the Park wouldn’t be happening. Party in the Park 2010 starts at 12noon, on Beacon Field and in Beacon Hall, Peasedown St John, on Saturday 17th July. Everyone is welcome to come along, have fund and contribute towards making Peasedown St John a better place. Yours faithfully, Nathan Cllr Nathan Hartley
