Witnesses to come forward after Community Farm theft - 20th May '10 E-mail

Witnesses are being asked to come forward after goods were stolen yesterday from Peasedown Community Farm.

The site, situated to the north of the village, has been under development for the last nine months with new equipment and animals recently moving in.

Yesterday, on Wednesday 19th May, an electric fence energiser and an 85a leisure battery, which powered the fence, were stolen during the day.

One of the project organisers, local Councillor Nathan Hartley (Lib Dem, Peasedown) said:

“It’s a shame someone has had a desire to take things that don’t belong to them, especially from a project that has been set up solely for the benefit of the whole community.

On Wednesday I left the Farm at 9.00am, after feeding the animals. When another member of the team arrived at 4pm the battery and energiser had gone.”

Peasedown Community Farm is located on White Ox Mead Lane, just off Dunkerton Hill, Peasedown St John. Anyone who has any information, or witnessed individuals on site during the hours of 9am and 4pm should contact Radstock Police on 0845 4567000. The crime reference number is 59366-10.

Cllr Hartley added:

“It’s very important that anyone with any information comes forward. The Police have been very helpful and are keen to find out who committed the crime. We’re also keen to get the equipment back.”
