Local Lib Dems have paid tribute to Gail Coleshill, who stood in last week's General Election in North East Somerset. Gail lost to Conservative Jacob Rees Mogg, but fought a tough campaign. Gail first stood in North East Somerset, then known as Wansdyke, ten years ago. Since then she has led many campaigns to save Post Offices, invest in better facilities for young people, save rural services and has supported community groups all over North East Somerset. Paying tribute, Peasedown Councillor Nathan Hartley, said: "Gail's hard work over the last decade has made the Lib Dems here much stronger than when she arrived. We now have more members, supporters and activists than ever before. Whoever takes on the mantel of Parliamentary Candidate in the future will do so owing a lot to Gail Coleshill. Thank you Gail!" Louise Bray, a Primary School governor and local campaigner, was Gail’s agent during the election campaign. She added: “Gail has a real understanding of the community in this area, their needs and aspirations. Her energy, enthusiasm, integrity and compassion to get things done will be much missed locally. A good example of this was the campaign to save the rural mobile library service.”
