Residents in Ashgrove, Peasedown St John, have been left stunned after Bath and North East Somerset Council visited their street last week to paint double yellow lines in a public lay-by. Gail Coleshill, the Prospective Lib Dem MP for North East Somerset, was in Peasedown last Friday talking to residents when they raised the issue with her, questioning how the Council could make such a blunder. Gail said: “At first I thought it was a joke, but no, the Council really has painted double yellow lines in a public parking area limiting even further the amount of residents parking in Ashgrove. It’s stupid things like this that make people question if the Conservatives, who run the Council, aren’t capable of doing a simple thing in Peasedown how are they capable of running the country?” Local resident and graphic designer Keith Lindsay-Cameron saw the funny side and put together this photo (below) and emailed it to Cllr Nathan Hartley, commenting: "Hi Nathan, Some things deserve their place in the history books..." Peasedown Councillors Sarah Bevan and Nathan Hartley have requested that the yellow lines be removed straight away. Years ago the lay-by was used as a bus stop, but since the installation of the raised bus kerbs, buses have been forced to stop on the road.
