| Clean-up treatment prescribed for Peasedown - 16/3/10 |

![]() Local councillors and volunteers will come to the rescue of their local health centre this week after its practice manager mentioned a litter problem to her local councillor. A calling notice has gone out to the local community in Peasedown St John, who will be provided with litter pick tongs, rubbish sacks and chocolate biscuits when they turn up to tidy up.
Cllr Bevan said:
'The surgery car park and garden is frequently inundated with large amounts of rubbish, so Cllr Hartley and I thought we'd team up with our residents and council staff to give it a make-over. Where the rubbish comes from is a mystery, but may be blown over when the wind is strong on our rubbish collection day. We're hoping for a good turn out and good weather - the last clean up was great fun and very worthwhile for all concerned.'
Litter picks have become a regular feature across Bath and North East Somerset council's communities, with river ways and tow paths particularly benefiting from deep clean days.
Residents can set up their own litter pick days which can transform their local community, generate pride in it and increase residents' confidence and well being in their surroundings. Tongs and sacks are available from council waste services free of charge - chocolate biscuits not included.
