Better late than never for ladies lunch club Christmas feast - 8th Jan '10 E-mail
A Christmas lunch planned for late last year had to be postponed due to the first big freeze to hit Peasedown St John. Undaunted, Pam Wright who has organised lunch for older ladies living in the area for 13 years, put all the food in her freezer and waited for better weather.

Thanks to Age Concern driver Leon, the lunch finally went ahead last Monday at Beacon Hall, Peasedown's community meeting place.

Pam said:

'It was touch and go, but I am so pleased the lunch went ahead even after Christmas. We even exchanged presents and cards as if the festive season were still going. It gave the ladies something to look forward to after being isolated during the bad weather.'

Cllr Bevan added:

'This event was funded by the councillors initiative money and I was so pleased to find Pam's lunch club such a worthy destination for the funding. I loved the red and green theme running through the decorations, and the home knitted presents were beautiful.'

Lunch club member Vera Cowley provides traditional knitted dolls every year, and makes cardigans and other clothing in her spare time.
