New numbered street sign puts an end to traffic trap - 28th Dec '09 E-mail
Residents of Church Road, Peasedown St John are celebrating again after a new street sign giving details of house numbers in their cul de sac was installed at the end of their road.

Cllr Sarah Bevan acted on the issue after a number of households rang her to ask what could be done about the huge increase in lost and puzzled drivers getting stuck at the end of their no through road.

Church Road residents Aubrey and Olive Presley had approached Cllr Bevan after online delivery lorries and other traffic were finding it difficult to avoid the tight turning point outside their house. Neighbour Brenda Allen too had begun to notice the blockages caused by motorists unsure how the numbering worked on her street. She said:

'I think this is a wonderful solution, and we've lived with the confusion for years now. It's also the best location for the sign, so that traffic from both directions see it before it's too late to turn round.'

Cllr Bevan added:

"When numbering of houses is not straight forward, it really helps to have clear indications as to which groups of numbered properties are where. The increase in online shopping has really highlighted these sorts of problems, but this one was relatively easy to resolve with the prompt site visit undertaken by our street sign officer Lyn Parfitt at Bath and North East Somerset Council."
