Dear Editor I recently arranged a tour with our experienced and very industrious Traffic and Safety Highways Officer of the various highways issues in need of attention in Peasedown St John. Many of the associated tasks have now been carried out to the Council's usual high standards of workmanship, ably assisted by our partner contractors, Atkins. I was greatly saddened to find that after weeks of meticulous attention to the detail of my list of works needed by these officers, the local MP has attempted to claim any improvements for himself by setting up a text number hotline for residents, simultaneously falsely accusing all of us of doing nothing. This is an attempt not only to mislead the public, but also constitutes an insult to that public's intelligence and understanding of how work gets done by local government. Does he really think the people of North East Somerset can be duped by such gimmicks into thinking this is all his own handiwork? I doubt if he even knows the names of the officers involved. Yours sincerely Sarah Cllr Sarah Bevan Lib Dem, Peasedown St John
