Trees Snapped Off in Wanton act of Vandalism E-mail

This is the Beacon Field in Peasedown St John where several trees, planted by local councillors Sarah Bevan and Gail Coleshill last year, have been snapped off in what can only be described as casual, pointless vandalism.

Cllr Coleshill said:

"I am very saddened by this behaviour, especially since Cllr Bevan and I planned for and planted these trees ourselves with the help of staff from the council's parks department to provide a place of beauty and tranquillity for residents and their children. It was raining when we planted them, so they had a greater than usual chance of survival.

However, we will not be deterred or discouraged by this - we intend to plant more and continue our campaign of vigilance to stamp out anti-social behaviour in our village."

An order will soon be raised by the parks department for more trees with stronger protectors around the trunks.
