Peasedown Bikers E-mail
Not only youngsters but also adults are enjoying the nationwide revival of motorbike popularity. Unfortunately some riders have been a cause for concern by either riding minibikes illegally or riding their legal bikes on footpaths which is dangerous and upsets local residents.

While the dangerous riding must be reported to the police who will take action, Cllr Gail Coleshill of the Community Safety Action Group and Ian Cullimore of the Peasedown Opportunity Project have got together to start a group for young motorcyclists which will help them ride more safely and give them some knowledge about the mechanics of bikes. Ian who has bikes of his own advises youngsters about the mechanics and Gail, who did ride a motorbike when she was younger, has organised the project and applied for grants. Community Action have contributed a grant on the condition that there is a training element and the Mercedes showroom have promised support in kind. Gail says:

"I arranged 2 days of a pre CBT training course for some of the youngsters during half term and they have bee very enthusiastic participants. We are hoping this  will just be the start and we can then arrange some more motorcycling events with meetings in Peasedown or trips out. Ian and another local resident James Jefferies who is a keen biker have already had some ideas and we are hoping to get a noticeboard up soon in the youth and community centre with events and information."

MOTAG ran the Wednesdays and Thursday courses for the lads on the Lansdown north playing fields. The lads all had the opportunity to ride motorbikes and to learn about safety and skill and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.  All the youngsters were taken by parents or mentors, and Ian and  James Jefferies were observers.
