The Party in the Park, which is due to take place on July 18th, has kept organisers busy since last September with preparations and arrangements.

Michael Eavis, who visited the village several years ago to view the newly re-furbished Methodist Church, has accepted an invitation to open the event at midday.

Peasedown resident Joy Fraser, who is a member of the Party in the Park management committee, said:

“We are really pleased that Michael has accepted our invitation to come along in July. He is very well known for his work with the Glastonbury Festival – which began has a small project in a field almost forty years ago.

His work is a great inspiration to us. Just like Glastonbury we hope our Party in the Park event will be the first of many here in Peasedown St John.”

Many of the attractions already lined up for the event include a hog roast, farmers market, face painting, and musical acts ‘The Ultimate Blues Brothers’ and ‘Delta Force Elite (DFE)’.

Prizes to be one on the day include a flight for four people in a Cherokee Six light aircraft over the city of Bath (worth £150), a meal for two at the Royal Crescent Restaurant (worth £100) and a personalised digital portrait (worth £120).

Event organisers are still looking for more bands to perform during the day. If you are interested contact Nathan Hartley on 01761 300522 or Karen Walker on 01761 300685.

The Party in the Park will be held on Beacon Field, and in Beacon Hall, on July 18th.
