Cllr Nathan Hartley has been nominated to receive the Aquaterra Achievement Award at the annual event to be held at the Guildhall in Bath.

The award ceremony will celebrate the numerous achievements of various people from different backgrounds and abilities.

Cllr Hartley has been nominated by staff at the Aquaterra Leisure Centre in Bath for his commitment to his recent weight loss and training programme.

Nathan, who has always battled with his weight since he was a child, left school in 2002 weighing almost 18 stone. He said:

“When I was at school I made every excuse I could not to take part in PE lessons. I hated sport and any kind of exercise, and to think now that I have been nominated for this award – it’s just amazing!

When I was approaching 18 stone all those years ago I decided that I needed to make radical changes in what I ate and what exercise I did. Now, three half-marathons later it’s a great privilege to have been nominated for this award.

Before Christmas I lost 2 stone (28 lbs) which has taken my total weight loss to 7 stone (98 lbs).”

Nathan is one of four nominations for the Aquaterra Achievement Award.

The presentation evening will be hosted by the Chairman of Bath and North East Somerset Council, Cllr David Bellotti, on Monday 9th March.
