Young people in Peasedown St John are being given the chance to have their say next week at the village’s next Youth Community Council meeting.

The Peasedown St John Youth Community Council was set up in 2007 to give youngsters support and encouragement in running social projects, fund-raising events, community clean ups – and anything that would enhance the quality of life for local residents.

Working with the group is B&NES Councillor Nathan Hartley (Lib Dem, Peasedown), who said:

“It is really important that young people are involved in the decisions that affect their lives. Quite often they share their frustrations with me about the high cost of bus fares, the amount of litter in the village, the lack of street lighting and having little to motivate them.”

Since the Youth Community Council was launched young people in Peasedown have helped out with litter-picks, met the Mayor of Bath, visited the Chairman of B&NES in the Council Chamber, arranged for new litter bins to be put in, trees to be planted and taken part in BMX competitions in Bath and Bristol. 

Youth Community Council meetings are open to any young person living in the village of secondary school age.  

The next meeting will be held at Peasedown Youth Centre, on Wednesday 28^th January – starting at 7pm.
