The new year has kicked off with an exciting start in Peasedown St John as a group of residents have got together to put on the village’s first Party in the Park event. Promoted by organisers as Peasedown’s biggest event in years, it will feature live music, traditional fete stalls, a Hog Roast and a celebrity guest. Being held in July, organisers have been working since last Summer on planning and preparation work. Several businesses have already sponsored the event but the organisers are keen for more to do so. One of the organisers is Peasedown resident and local businesswoman Karen Walker, who said: “As year on year we see community spirit fade and more people unaware of who their neighbours are, a group of us have got together to try and make a difference. We hope Party in the Park will be a highlight in 2009 - for enhancing village life, bringing friends and family together and we’d like as many people as possible to be a part of it. Unfortunately though, events like this are not cheap and in order for Peasedown St John to host an event similar to that of the Priston Festival or the Keynsham Music Festival we need financial support.” All businesses and organisations that sponsor the event will be advertised in the programme displaying logos and contact details, being sold to attendees on the day. Anyone wishing to sponsor Party in the Park 2009 can contact Karen on 01761 300685 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
