Dear Editor, I write in response to John Bull’s letter in last week’s newspaper where he attempts to defend his reasoning for voting with the Conservatives over the Bath Transport Package. Readers should be aware it is not just this issue but on most issues the Labour group on B&NES vote with the Conservatives – quite often without question. In fact, over the last 18 months, the Labour and Conservative groups on the Council have voted together on almost every issue. Just like the national situation, here in Bath and North East Somerset there really is no difference between the two parties. Are people in areas with Labour Councillors aware of this? Do they know by voting for Labour Councillors they are really just supporting a Conservative Administration? This is something we are seeing more and more around the country. For instance, in Bristol it is the Conservatives who have voted Labour into power. Also in nearby Keynsham, on the Town Council, Labour has formed a working arrangement with the Conservatives. With both parties now agreeing on most of the main policy issues, both locally and nationally, residents will need to look elsewhere if they really do want meaningful and lasting change in our country. Yours faithfully, Nathan Cllr Nathan Hartley Lib Dem, Peasedown St John
