More support needed for the young - 28th June '08 E-mail
Liberal Democrats are calling for more support for young people. Recent cuts to the youth service locally and predicted high youth homelessness figures show poor consideration for the Bath and North East Somerset youngsters by the Council.

Recent Lib Dem polls show that residents share their concern about providing more facilities for young people as there is a perception that high spirits and boundless energy lead to anti- social behaviour.

Liberal Democrats have been working with youth clubs and community groups to improve facilities available to young people, and ways of using their excess energy. Gail Coleshill was full of praise for Peasedown St John Youngsters and their supporters.

She said: “Peasedown Youngsters have been involved in all sorts of projects including seats for residents as well BMX tracks, and art projects. I have had so many favourable comments about my sponsored Pig, ‘Heidi the Hippy’ which is a credit to local young artist Rebecca Long and the members of the Youth Club.

“Heidi can be seen at the turning to Peasedown off the by-pass where she is very happily out to grass. The photo shows Sinead, Ashley, Reece and Kerry from the Youth Club with their friends and supporters - and Heidi of course.”
