| Pig returns to Peasedown after flying visit to Bath - 15th June '08 |
|
The Peasedown Pig, designed and painted by young people in Peasedown, was back in the village this week. It stood in for a poorly pig which had to go for some renovation work in Kingsmead Square but is now meeting and greeting people as they drive into Peasedown from the by pass.
Local Councillors and residents welcome Heidi the Hippi Pig to Peasedown St John.
Heidi the Hippy Pig is part of the King Bladud Pig Trail, an idea thought up by Freshford resident Gitte Dawson. All the Pigs which can be seen in prominent places all round Bath have been sponsored by local people and businesses and all the sponsor money will go to the Two Tunnels Sustrans cycleway scheme. Gail Coleshill, who sponsored the Peasedown Pig and was on hand to see it installed, said: “Apart from its eminent good looks there are two excellent things about this Pig. One it is a young people’s project, and two it helps to get more off road cycle paths for our area.” Heidi the HIPPY Pig was named and designed by young people from Peasedown Youth Club and painted by local artist Rebecca Long who has recently had her worked exhibited at the Royal Academy. She is a student at Writhlington School.
