Young people in Peasedown St John are one step closer to having their very own BMX Bike track this week after floods of residents attended an Open Morning at the youth club on Saturday to show their support for the project.
BMX Fever: Kerry Good, Cllr Sarah Bevan and Cllr Nathan Hartley. The open morning, organised by Youth Leader Bridie Marshall and the young people themselves, was designed to raise awareness of the various projects and activities they are running from a new Saturday morning coffee shop to a Mosaic dedicated to Nikita Moore – a young resident who passed away last year.
Cllr Nathan Hartley, who attended the morning, said: “It was fantastic to see so many residents on hand to see what the young people in our village have been up to. Unfortunately so often young people are tarnished with the image of being mischievous and causing problems but this open morning really did paint a different picture. One of the purposes of the event was to show residents a video produced by the young people about why they want a BMX track in the village and to sign a petition, which now has over 200 names, calling for the relevant authorities and people to set up a track. Thanks to the support of residents we are now one step closer to having a facility in Peasedown where young people can channel their energy, play and keep fit, and socialise with their friends and family.”
