The final stage of the traffic management schedule in the Bath Road and beyond is due to be completed tomorrow with the relocation of the bus stop from outside the shops near the chemist to outside the Pizza Parlour, which has a ready made lay-by for vehicles.
Cllr Sarah Bevan with campaigner Gail Coleshill and B&NES Officers discussing changes to the Bath Road.
Congestion problems will be greatly eased when the move is completed this week, with preliminary work due to start on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Road markings will follow next week, when a marked improvement in traffic congestion, already noted by local coach company Arleen's, will be even more noticeable by residents.
These works, which were planned last year during consultations with local residents, local businesses, local councillors and Bath and North East Somerset officers, are aimed at easing both traffic congestion, pedestrian safety, and last but certainly not least, the fortunes of local shops and businesses.
Cllr Bevan said
"I have high hopes for these changes which have been a long time in the planning. The quality of life for residents using local amenities has to be safeguarded, as does the long term future of retailers here. With the advent of an important medical facility in the near future, it is all the more crucial that local shops can benefit from the increase in visitors to our village".
