Better bus service with the Lib Dems E-mail

Liberal Democrats are pledging action to make public transport in the area a clean, safe and convenient option in order to tackle congestion and fight climate change, if they gain control of the Council on May 3rd.

Gail Coleshill, Nathan Hartley and Sarah Bevan want better and more efficient public transport in our area

Cllr Sarah Bevan and and Cllr Gail Coleshill succeeded in getting a service round Orchard Way re-instated but there are still only 2 buses per day.
Sarah Bevan (Lib Dem candidate Peasedown St John) said:
"We in Peasedown want to address the balance of bus provision between the two parts of the village. There are only 2 per day round Orchard Way, which means that school children and the elderly have to make the long trip round to the Bath Road to catch a bus. I have concerns about safety on dark winter nights too."
Gail Coleshill (Lib Dem candidate in Midsomer Norton North) said:
"People in Midsomer Norton tell me they would like a more direct bus to Bath on a regualr basis - and they are fed up with the cost. We need cheaper public transport that goes where people want it."
The Lib Dems brought in the Dial a Ride service to Keynsham and Sarah Bevan and local residents campaigned to extend the Midsomer Norton Dial a Ride round the villages like Peasedown. Lib Dems want to see they are used by people who cannot easily get to public transport, not just the elderly and infirm.
Nathan Hartley (Lib Dem candidate in Peasedown St John), a bus user himself says:
"We need to take account of young people too. There aren't enough facilties for young people outside Bath and arranging cheap transport would enable them to go to places where there are activites on offer."
