Urgent action sought as collision takes place during routine site meeting E-mail
Councillors and Council officers held a meeting in response to residents' fears last Friday in Peasedown St John to discuss measures to curb the increase in serious accidents along the by-pass between Bath and Radstock.
As Cllrs Sarah Bevan and Cllr Gail Coleshill were viewing driver behaviour on the Bath side of Orchard Way, there was a collision between two private cars just behind them on the now notorious bend to the right of this exit.

Luckily, one officer present at the meeting last Friday was a member of the traffic and safety team arm of the police service and the other was a traffic and safety officer, who quickly put on their high visibility jackets and rushed over to the two motorists, calling for an ambulance as they did so.
Cllr Bevan said:
"This particular stretch of road is now well known as an accident black spot, which is why I called the meeting last Friday. Fortunately on this occasion neither driver was injured, but both suffered severe shock and one vehicle had its wheel sawn off by the oncoming car. Measures to improve road safety here and driver habits are to be put in place without delay, including a pedestrian refuge to combat the danger for walkers and their dogs."
Cllr Coleshill also suggested that the vegetation blocking motorists' view before they exit onto the by-pass should be cut back severely as this causes more danger for all motorists using this road.
