Peasedown took another step closer to becoming the first graffiti-free zone in the area last week. The Recreation stand on Peasedown St John’s Recreation stand has been covered with graffiti for well over a decade. It had become, like so many others, a patch of graffiti that has been around for so long people had become used to it and not even register it was there anymore.
The stands cleanup was arranged by local resident, Lib Dem campaigner Nathan Hartley who said: “I am so pleased this has been cleaned. The recreation field is used by many people, whether they are walking their dogs, playing in the park, or playing football on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. It’s a hub of our community used by many people.” The Recreation field itself comes under the jurisdiction of Peasedown Parish Council who’s responsibility it is to look after the field, particularly its appearance. The graffiti, however, was cleared by officers of B&NES Council. Nathan added: “Community projects and initiatives work best when people work together. If I had been doing this campaign on my own it wouldn’t have worked. It’s thanks to the B&NES officers, political friends, church representatives and especially local residents that Peasedown is looking a much cleaner and greener place today.”
