A footpath extension marks the end of danger for residents walking between the old and the new parts of Peasedown St John. The new walkway was added shortly before Christmas, when residents contacted their local Councillor to point out the dangers particularly for youngsters on pedal bikes who found themselves in the direct pathway of cars and lorries due to a truncated path that should have been finished years ago.

Cllr Bevan said: "I called a meeting with B&NES Council Highways officers and residents after several comments from local householders that the existing path was dangerous. Officers agreed immediately that an extension was imperative, and the work was done within weeks."This is so important both for the unity of our village and for community safety, particularly now that our local nursery school Zebedees has received a substantial amount of money from B&NES to expand, and they'll be lots of parents walking along this path to the school and back home - they need to be safe every step of the way." Also keen to get the path finished were local Community Safety officer Adrian Davies, and local resident Donald Box, both of whom live next to or at the end of the pathway.
