Peasedown Action Line E-mail

A Peasedown St John resident has launched a new action hotline exclusively for local people.

Nathan Hartley, who has been leading a successful campaign to make Peasedown a graffiti free zone, has decided to expand the service so residents can contact him about a whole range of issues.

Nathan commented: “When talking with local people about various problems they have had it occurred to me that what is needed is a central point of call where people can go to get things done. For instance, when residents have contacted me to report an area of graffiti that needs clearing the conversation often moves onto that path that needs clearing or that hedge that needs cutting.”

The hotline, which was launched last week, has been called Peasedown Action Line because that is exactly what it is – a hotline that people can call to see effective action in their local community.

The service, which is supported by Local Lib Dem Councillor Sarah Bevan, is similar to B&NES’ Council Connect but is exclusively for Peasedown residents.

Cllr Bevan said: “What makes this service unique is that it is run by someone who has a lot of personal knowledge of the local area. So when residents phone for information or to report something they know they will be speaking to someone who has a lot of local expertise.”

Residents can phone the Peasedown Action Line to (amongst other things) get graffiti cleared, overgrown hedges cut, receive information about the local street cleaning service, report damaged pavements and potholes, street lights that aren’t working, paths that need clearing, and even information about the next Community Safety Action Group meeting and how to set up a Neighbourhood Watch.

Nathan added: “When residents phone Peasedown Action Line they are also guaranteed a response whatever the outcome. Local people deserve to know if what they have asked for is or isn’t going to be done.”

Peasedown residents can phone Peasedown Action Line on 300522.
